Children's bike helmet

Children's bike helmet

Whether they are drivers of their own bike or simply passengers on the child seat of the older ones, children must wear a helmet at all costs. The helmet must of course be approved and of the right size to provide comfort and above all the necessary protection in the event of a fall, for example.

What do the current regulations say?

With regard to cycling as well as driving, there are very specific rules established by law that must be respected. These rules are generally established in order to preserve the safety of all and this is particularly the case for young cyclists such as a child or a baby.

With regard to the child's bicycle helmet, the regulations are clear: a child under 12 years of age must wear a bicycle helmet, whether as a driver or passenger. It is up to the adult accompanying the child to ensure this. The helmet must be securely fastened and have the CE mark. Failure to comply with this requirement can result in a fine of up to €750 being imposed on the adult accompanying the child. This will most often be a fixed fine of €135.

.

So it is only from the age of 12 that children can go without a bicycle helmet if the parents wish, although it is obviously strongly recommended that the wearing of bicycle helmets continues to be encouraged, regardless of age.

Our selection of bike helmets for kids

A child's bicycle helmet is chosen first and foremost according to its size. Indeed, there are helmets designed for the smallest children and it will be enough to change the model when the child is too big to wear its old child bike helmet. During this time, it is with the straps that parents will be able to make adjustments so that the helmet can stay in place without bothering the child or squeezing him too much.

Every child's bike helmet we offer is CE approved and thought of by a brand that is an expert in its subject. Firstly, there are the Bern helmets with the bike helmet for children aged 2 to 5 years. With its playful and colourful designs, it will appeal to the youngest without a doubt. The helmet is comfortable and has a visor to protect against rain and sun. The brand also offers a model for 3 to 8 year olds with two different sizes (S and M) and three colours (white, blue, black). Here too, the visor is in order and the strap will allow a perfect fit of the helmet.

The Thousand brand also offers its helmet model for children aged 5 to 10. With its vintage design, this headset comes in three colours (blue, pink, green) and offers openings to let air circulate freely around the head. The magnetic loop is perfect for easy handling. A junior can therefore opt for equipment that can be adjusted to his or her age for cycling in town or in the countryside. There are different models for this type of accessory.
