The history of the brand

Dalloz was founded in 1845, specialising in law and legal news. Founded by a lawyer of the same name, this French publishing house began with the collection of general jurisprudence. Its catalogue expanded to include all the codes published under Napoleon, i.e. no less than 47 volumes. Several other legal works were then added to the long list. Building on its success, the Dalloz brand has been offering annotated codes for students since 1920. Today, the publishing house publishes around 350 titles and has become the leader in professional and academic legal publishing.

Since 2005, Dalloz has been part of the Lefebvre Sarrut group, offering unrivalled expertise and know-how in the field of law.

Through these little red codes, Dalloz has been able to respond to the issue of cycling by proposing its Cyclist's Code. This book has become the real bible for cyclists, taking the form of other official codes without being so. However, it compiles the essentials of the law for cyclists by means of a detailed keyword search of all the French codes.

The Cyclist's Code presents the provisions applicable to cycling to make it easier for those who have chosen to use this mode of transport in their daily lives. Although it is not official, its contents are, in particular, the obligations of the cyclist, the prohibitions and signs and the various rights applicable to the cyclist.

Concerned about the safety of cyclists, it was obvious to us to propose this cyclist's code which brings together all the legal information on cycling. Whether used in the city or in a more sporting way, cyclists must know their rights in order to assert them. This code allows you to avoid getting lost in the multitude of codes (criminal, civil...) and to go straight to the essentials for a more accessible and easier practice.
