The history of the brand

The IGN is the National Institute of Geographic and Forestry Information. This institute is therefore specialised in the mapping of many different sites and offers, among other things, walking and cycling routes. IGN maps are therefore known to be particularly popular with hikers wishing to discover both the city and the countryside. It is an essential tool for planning routes where a GPS may not be reliable and accurate. Opting for an IGN map is therefore the assurance that you will always find your way back, even when your phone's battery level is not sufficient or the network is absent.

At Je Suis À Vélo, we have chosen to offer you several IGN maps to discover several regions.

There is a map of France to prepare for future cycling adventures and a map of the road network in France.

There is also a map of Ile-de-France with routes classified by department, but also by difficulty or by journey time. This map is full of more than 110 itineraries and 5600km of routes to cover.

For those who would like to discover Alsace, IGN also offers a map with more than 120 routes. This map also has a zoom on Mulhouse in order to discover the Alsatian city during a stay there for example.

Finally, an IGN map of Morbihan is also available. This guide will give you ideas of good plans as well as hikes to do once you are there. These hundreds of kilometres to cover will give you the opportunity to appreciate the beauty of this region!

The reason IGN is so well suited to Je Suis À Vélo is that their maps are known to be particularly reliable and well thought out. Easy to read, they allow even novice hikers to set off on an adventure without worrying about not finding their way.

While a GPS is a great ally, there's nothing like a map in your bag when you decide to explore an unknown place. If the velotaf is at the heart of our project, cycling is also part of what we want to promote.
